Steps On Trimming Split Ends That Are Unhealthy

By

Healthy hair should have no trace of split ends. A genuine idea to save on time and money is to do this on by yourself.

Split ends travel till the roots of one's hair and lead to a lot of damage, so it's a must to cut them before they create the disaster. Because the damage done by split ends is irreversible. Hence you need that trimming before your hair looks dead. Conditioning your hair, leave-in conditioners or even oils are a temporary solution.

Split ends are a very self explanatory term that comes from process of cortex or the inner layer of the strand of your hair splits by the end of it. Split ends are caused because the sharp edges of a bob pin that make the hair stick into it, or brushing and combing hard which leads to overstretching of the hair or also by blow drying, curling or straightening irons as they generate a lot of heat. So don't use bobby pins and keep your hair away from heat and use a good conditioner that helps your hair stay away from the heat.

It happens with most of us that we get excited when few inches of new hair growth shows up and we see split ends and we go to the hairdresser to cut off the dead hair or split ends and we at the end lose all the good new growth we had recently discovered. Annoying isn't it?

So a good solution to this is to cut those split ends all by yourself, so that the length remains safe in your hands. Make sure the scissor you use is not blunt because that will lead to more split ends, so buy a sharp hairdressers' scissor or a sewing scissor.

You need to get rid of the split ends while seated down in a comfortable chair in from of the mirror and lots of light. Twist the ends of a small bunch of hair strands that are about 1/4th or ½ an inch and you shall see split ends stuck out. Holding the scissors at a perpendicular angle to the strands of your hair cut the split ends off using just the tip of your scissor. Perform this using small bunches or segments of your hair.

Perform this twisting and cutting across all the hair strands on your head. It might take more time than it does when you do this the first time. However depending on the length and density of your hair this can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.

Ask a friend to help. Keeping your hair healthy is a must and for the same do this at an average interval of a month or a two.

This process done at home will keep you from being the judge of how much length you want to retain and not that you will be at the risk of the hairdressers' hands.
