Try these simple home remedies to repair and prevent dry hair and split ends.
On an average there are around 150,000 hair strands on a human head which needs regular TLC keeping in mind the pollution, wind, products and sun that it is exposed to on a regular basis. Also when styling the colors, strengtheners, blow dryers and other such treatments the hair goes through. Sometimes hair becomes dry due to all these reasons and develops split ends and becomes brittle. But this can be treated without going to expensive salons; you can treat it from ingredients out of your kitchen or refrigerator.
One of the home remedies is to beat up an egg. First separate the egg white and yolk and then add one tablespoon water to the white and whip it thoroughly. Now mix both the yolk and white together. Use warm water to wet hair and after removing the excess of moisture with the help of your fingertips apply the mixture on to the scalp. Once you see some froth forming while you are massaging gently, rinse hair with cold water. Rinse till all the egg gets washed away.
Another ingredient out of your kitchen you can use to moisturize dry hair is mayonnaise. Heat about half cup mayonnaise till it becomes oily and like white goo. Apply this to dry hair before washing. Leave a plastic bag covered on your hair for a minimum of 15 minutes and then shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
Mash a banana that is over-ripe; remember the blacker it is the better. Add a rotten and mushy avocado. Apply this puree on your hair and let it stay for a minimum of fifteen minutes and wash hair in a kitchen sink.
Beer can give dry hair a good healthy shine. Before you decide to blow dry and style your hair use a few sprinkles of beer with the help of a pump bottle. The odor would disappear quickly and leave hair sleek and shiny.
Some other tips to follow are to avoid over shampooing. Shampoos wash away the protective oils on the scalp so try to use a shampoo that is mild or for damaged hair.
Regularly conditioning your hair can help protect hair's layer of cuticle from splitting away from the shaft.
Use a conditioner after every shampoo session and pick one that suits your hair.
Wearing a hat can help to keep hair off the ill effects of sun and wind.
Trimming split ends every five to seven weeks is good for dry hair to keep the fraying in control.
Heat in any form of whether that of curling irons or dryers can dry your hair out quickly.
Swimming without a cap can also lead to dry hair. The cap will keep the hair away from the effect of chlorine. If not a cap make sure to massage some olive oil onto your hair before you make that dive. Use some deep conditioning after you expose hair to chlorinated or salty water.
