Deepika Padukone

Born on the fifth day of January in 1986 in Denmark, Copenhagen is Deepika Padukone, today a successful Indian actor and model. Her father Prakash Padukone, is a former champion of Badminton. Konkani being her mother tongue.  

Although Deepika came into limelight in the international modeling scene after she was the cover-girl for Maybelline. She had done print and tv ad-campaigns for Limca, Close-Up and Liril. Also she was the brand ambassador for Jewels of India. 

She also received the award for 'Model of the Year' at the 5th Annual Kingfisher Awards for Fashion. In 2006 she was one of the lucky models for Swimsuit Calendar that is a Kingfisher affair every year, and this made her a super model. She also got into her record two awards one for Fresh Face and the other for Female Model in the year 2006 at Idea Zee Fashion Awards. 

Deepika's younger sister is named Anisha. 

Five of her favourite movies are Cindrella Man, Mary Poppins, Rang-e khoda, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kabhi Kabhi.  

Juhi Chawla, Sushmita Sen, Preity Zinta, Kajol, Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi and Hema Malini are amongst Deepika's favorite actresses. And among the  actors are Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Richard Gere and Shahrukh Khan.  

Deepika loves to eat, sleep, listen to music and also watch movies. She also likes sports and plays basketball, throw ball, tennis and baseball occasionally. She was a state level player in badminton till her 10th grade, post which she took a break for three months to give her board exams. However, she was never keen on taking up sports professionally. She initially took up modeling assignments as a hobby only to discover that she loved the profession and took it up professionally.  

Deepika did her undergraduate study from a college named Mount Carmel and her high school was Sophia's at Bangalore.  

Deepika's father played badminton and won on an international level. He won an All England Championship of the year 1980. Deepika's mother is a proud travel agent.  

She is also a Spokesmodel for brands such as Maybelline, Levis (India), Parachute, Jewels of India, Limca, Close-Up, Liril and Dabur.  

She loves wearing designs by Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal and Tarun Tahiliani.  

Her favorite songs are Pehla Nasha of Joh Jeeta Woh Sikandar, Ankhon Mein Teri of Om Shanto Om, Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein of Kabhi Kabhi, 'We are the World' by Micheal Jackson and Angel by Lionel.
